I thought I would take some time out to explain the two different meanings of gay in the black community. Americans have accepted the term gay to be used to label homosexuals. In the black community a black male might be called gay if he is caught having a heart felt moment in front of other guys or if a guy gets caught playing softy games with his girl on the phone (ex. No you hang up…..no you hang up first…..okay on the count of three we both hang up…….yukkkk!!!!). We call each other gay all the time and think nothing of it because we have other terms like sweet, sugary, or shaky to describe homosexuals. Here’s a list of things we call gay that white folks may not understand.

• 1. Two grown men hugging for too long.
• 2. A really corny rap song.
• 3. A male calling anything cute (girls and kids excluded).
• 4. Guy who want to talk to other guys about their feelings.
• 5. Guys that where turtlenecks or tight shirts (I mean a kids size shirt at 18)
• 6. Guys who show public affection to their girlfriends in front of the homeboys.
• 7. Guys who have random feminine moments.
• 8. Guys who carry man bags on a regular basis.
• 9. Guys who gossips more than girls
• 10. Black people who are oblivious to the fact that their black (embraces cultures and activities commonly embraced by the white community).

I am huge fan of the X-Men. I hope the story line does not take too big of a hit. After the awful job that was done with X-Men III: The Last Stand, X-Men Origins: Wolverine has to be good!!! I am also very excited too see Gambit’s character introduced; they should have included him in the original trilogy.   Marvel is definitley moving full speed ahead leaking an X-Men Origin: Magneto is currently in development. The movie not due out until mid next year. Hopefully the anticipation is not in vain.

Cell phones have proved to be recession proof during the economic woes. While the ability to call others while in transit really launched a phenomenon of faithful users,texting and mp3 capabilities has further enhanced the experience. According to Irene Collins with Efluxmedia, the music industry is reportedly taking a different approach in the fight against file sharers. “Notices seem to be a better solution when it comes to banning, warning or preventing this kind of irregularity. In other words, under the new plan, the RIAA will send notices to ISPs that identify the IP addresses of suspected file sharers. ISPs will then send warnings to their customers and then cut them off if the users fail to curb their illegal downloads. Details are still being worked out, but most reports said downloaders might lose their net connection after the third notice. The termination could last anywhere from three months to a year”.

While all of this taking place, music sales are surprising up overall from last year. I recall a few years back, faithful downloaders responded to criticism by claim that the quality of music being put out by the artists was not worth by buying; I guess things have changed. It will be interesting to see if they will develop some type of database that will keep track of these individuals so other ISP will have a red flag to refuse service. Read the full article.
